Botox/Dysport

Botox® and Dysport® are both Botulinum Toxin Type A, a medication which works by blocking the communication between the nerves and muscles; relaxing lines and wrinkles in treated sites. The molecular structure of Dysport® is slightly smaller than Botox®, which causes the treatment to diffuse faster and therefore it has a quicker onset than Botox®.* Dysport® treatment is noticeable as early as 1-2 days after treatment, where Botox® typically takes 3-4 days.  Full correction typically takes 1-2 weeks for either product. Studies have shown that both products last about 4-6 months.

Botox® has been available in the US since the 1980s and has been a long-time market leader in the industry. Dysport was approved in Europe in the 1990s and got FDA approval in the US in 2009. Both products have an established long-term safety profile.
